Free Skin Cancer Screenings Parkland Medical Center will hold two free skin cancer screenings in May at its Oncology-Hematology Clinic, Suite 209, in the Nutfield Building on the hospitals campus. The screenings will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Monday, May 21, 2007 from noon to 3 p.m. Conducted in partnership with the American Cancer Society, the screenings will be administered by surgeons Dr. John Mallen and Dr. Jennifer Weymouth, members of Parklands medical staff. Skin cancer affects more then one million Americans every year. The American Cancer Society recommends a skin examination by a physician every three years for individuals between the ages of 20 and 40, and annually for those 40 and older. Although skin cancer can be a deadly disease, the key is catching it at an early stage so that proper treatment can be undertaken, said Dr. Mallen. Free screenings, like those offered at Parkland Medical Center, provide a convenient method of determining if you might have, or be at risk for, skin cancer. Both screenings will take place at Parklands Oncology-Hematology Clinic, located in Suite 209 of the Nutfield Building at 44 Birch Street in Derry, New Hampshire. Appointments can be scheduled in advance by calling 603-421-2130.
